Travel back in time with a reindeer sleigh ride, a traditional Lappish method of transportation!
With the reindeers’ steady pace you can get the most out of the pristine scenery. For photograph enthusiasts, there are many ideal photo opportunities along the ride and while on the reindeer farm. Begin the trip by encountering living history on the reindeer farm. Reindeer herding is among the oldest professions held by the native people of Lapland and much of their way of life perseveres today. The best way to meet the locals in Lapland is to meet a reindeer—they out number the humans! Reindeer have been the staple animal in Lapland for thousands of years, a primary means of transportation, milk, and meat. Reindeer herding began with the nomadic indigenous people of Lapland, the Sami, who lived in reindeer herding communities.
Our guests have the chance to meet the reindeer farmers themselves who can regale us with stories of their life and livelihood hand-in-hand with nature. Kids (and grown-ups) will enjoy the chance to feed the reindeer some tasty lichen, their favorite treat. Indoors you can enjoy something hot to drink and Finnish pulla (buns).
Join us for an exciting reindeer safari in Rovaniemi to enjoy the peace of Lapish nature while exploring the wilderness around you and listening to the sounds of reindeer walking on the snow. As you ride, acknowledge the beautiful wintery setting and soak in the serenity, broken only by the sound of reindeer walks crunching through the snow.
